Bilingual performance to entertain families Oct. 18
The Lewes Public Library’s Spoken Word Society will welcome families for an interactive story, song and dance performance by Teatro de la Luna at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, in the library’s outdoor pavilion, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.
The English/Spanish sing-along, Vientos, Cuerdas, Percusión! (Winds, Strings, Percussion!), will feature performers Gabo and Mate in an engaging guessing game of “What instrument am I playing?”
“Teatro de la Luna’s summer performance at the library was a huge hit! They had the whole crowd singing, dancing and joining in the fun,” said Jennifer Noonan, children’s librarian. “We are so excited to have Gabo and Mate join us again and teach us all about musical instruments and the sounds they make.”
No registration is required, and the free show is appropriate for all ages. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the library.
The performance will serve as a kickoff for the Lewes Public Library’s fall Spanish story time series, with performances held once a month at 10:30 a.m., Saturdays, presented by professional bilingual educators Mauricio and Sheila. The program celebrates multiculturalism with songs, stories and crafts for both English- and Spanish-speaking children.
Teatro de la Luna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing both the Spanish- and English- speaking communities of the Washington, D.C. capital area with a source of high-quality theater as seen from a Latin American perspective.
