Beebe medical staff adds experienced cardiothoracic surgeon

November 14, 2025

Beebe Healthcare announced Vincent Lotano, MD, has joined its Cardiovascular Institute team.

A cardiothoracic surgeon, Lotano provides comprehensive care for patients as they undergo complex cardiac and structural heart procedures. He will see patients at Beebe Cardiothoracic Surgery Lewes.

Some of the most common procedures Lotano performs include heart bypass surgery, heart valve surgery, transcatheter aortic valve replacement and cardiogenic shock. He also specializes in care for patients who require left- and right-sided cardiac support devices and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation — a specialized procedure that removes carbon dioxide from the bloodstream and replaces it with oxygen-rich blood.

“Beebe has an excellent reputation, and the team is truly committed to caring for its community,” said Lotano. “I have long-standing professional relationships and connections with many of the physicians who practice here at Beebe, and my family has vacationed in this area for over 30 years. So, for both professional and personal reasons, I am happy to have the opportunity to work here and serve this community.”

Lotano graduated from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. His clinical training included a general surgery residency at Cooper Hospital University Medical Center, also in New Jersey, followed by a cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics. He also is CyberKnife certified.

Lotano is board certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery, and is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians. Lotano previously served as medical director of thoracic surgery and the Cardiogenic Shock Intensive Care Unit at AtlantiCare Health System in New Jersey. He played an instrumental role in the establishment and growth of the specialized intensive care unit as well as the open heart and transitional open heart units at that hospital.

Earlier in his career, Lotano served in leadership roles at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey at Cooper Hospital, Virtua Surgical Group, the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Lehigh Valley Health Network.

In tandem, he has devoted time to academic medicine and has served as an associate professor of surgery at various colleges and universities, including the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, University of Pennsylvania, Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida, and Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
