Holiday village and market continues during Dec. 6 house tour
Historic Lewes will host its annual Holiday House Tour of Lewes beginning at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, featuring 10 private homes and two public buildings adorned for the season. The last visitors will be admitted at 3:30 p.m.
The self-guided tour offers a rare glimpse inside some of the area’s most treasured properties, celebrating their architectural heritage along with the magic of the season. Attendees should plan to have transportation to several stops on the tour.
Volunteer docents from local nonprofits will be on hand to share stories and specific details about featured properties that range from centuries-old to contemporary, newly constructed homes.
Tickets may be purchased for $50 through the Historic Lewes website at historiclewes.org.
A detailed guidebook with descriptions of each property on the tour will serve as an admission ticket and will be available to pick up prior to the event.
Each ticket will provide one-time admission to tour all homes during the designated hours.
Ticket holders and the general public are invited to the free Holiday Village & Market on the Historic Lewes campus from 4 to 7 p.m. during First Friday, Dec. 5, and continuing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6. Artist vendors will be on site selling handmade products such as jewelry, knitwear, paintings, photography, glassware, textiles, candles and ceramic creations. More than a dozen local farms will offer a range of items including honey, oysters, fresh baked goods, olive oils, jellies and jams, lavender, salts and nut brittles.
The traditional sale of greens will take place on Saturday only, along with food options, carolers and historic interpreters mingling among the crowds.
