Marcella Ann Hanson, woman of deep faith

Marcella Ann Hanson, 98, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan 6, 2026, in Lewes.
 
Marcy was born Marcella Ann Krajcsovics (Kray) Aug. 28, 1927, in Istanbul, Turkey. Growing up in Istanbul, Marcy attended the German School of Istanbul and learned to speak seven languages.
 
In 1946, she met and married an American Air Force officer, Roy Eugene Hanson. They moved to the U.S. and had three children, Gail, Wayne and Gregg.
 
In her early life, she was a fashion model, earning the title of Miss Polaroid, and once modeled the famous 45-carat Hope Diamond at a runway show in Washington, D.C. She also traveled extensively around the world. After retirement, Marcy and Roy settled in Rehoboth Beach.
 
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Marcy loved the Lord with her whole heart. She found joy in worship, prayer, and serving others, and she gave generously to numerous charities. Her home was always filled with warmth, encouragement, and faith.
 
She adored her family, was a fabulous cook, and had a green thumb, creating beautiful gardens.
 
Marcy was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hanson; her son, Wayne Eric Hanson; and her daughter, Gail Sanders.
 
She is survived by her son, Gregg Hanson of Rehoboth Beach; grandsons, Stephen Hanson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Nicolas Hanson of Annapolis, Md.; granddaughters, Kris Long of Suffolk, Va., and Ananda Sanders of Ruckersville, Va.; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Frazier, Kyla Frazier and Zach Frazier; and great-great-grandchildren Aliyah, Kenzlie and Zaccai.
 
She will be greatly missed by all, and her warmth, generous spirit, and beautiful smile will be remembered forever.
 
A chapel committal service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 13, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
