The Rehoboth Beach Film Society will host screenings of “Hamnet,” beginning Friday, Jan. 16, at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes. Chloé Zhao directs a powerful story of love and loss inspired by the creation of Shakespeare's timeless masterpiece, “Hamlet.”
After her son Hamnet (Jacobi Jupe) dies at age 11, Agnes Shakespeare (Jessie Buckley) is struck with intense grief. As she mourns with her husband William (Paul Mescal), the pair struggles to come to terms with the ruthlessness of the plague and the frailty of life in 16th-century England. A healer by trade, Agnes must find a way to move on with her life and provide for her other children.
