UD visual arts and design student interns at Sussex Tech
During January, Sussex Technical High School welcomed University of Delaware senior Amy Deo as a student intern in its Digital Publishing and Graphic Design Technologies program.
As a visual communications art and design major, Deo is required to complete 120 internship hours for graduation. She assisted program teacher Kelli Gehrke in the Sussex Tech classroom daily, and took part in critiquing student work.
Deo produced demos for portfolio creation and type alignment, and helped students design a T-shirt for a local business. She also created the graduation ticket design for the Sussex Technical High School Class of 2026.
Upon graduation from the University of Delaware, Deo is hoping to land a graphic design job in advertising, branding and general design. “While teaching is not where I see myself, I am enjoying my time in a classroom setting,” said Deo. “Working with the students is helping me with public speaking, clear communication and in some ways, art direction skills.”
Sussex Technical High School is a public school that prepares Sussex County students for future success in workforce environments, higher education and the military.
