Bethany’s Fire & Ice Festival rescheduled to Feb. 6-8

VFW chicken dinner being held as planned Jan. 31 to benefit veterans
January 28, 2026

The 2026 Fire & Ice Festival in Bethany Beach has been rescheduled to Friday-Sunday, Feb. 6-8, due to this weekend’s weather forecast. This decision was made in the interest of public safety in accordance with the Jan. 28 Sussex County Weather Report with the approval of the Fire & Ice Board Committee, Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, and partnering towns and host locations.

Presented by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, the weekend-long, multi-town winter festival is free to attend and spans the Quiet Resorts towns of south coastal Delaware. This year’s festival features more than 90 ice sculptures, masterfully carved by The Ice God, and a full slate of family-friendly activities. Festival updates and a current schedule of events can be found at fireandicede.com and on official social media channels.

The 2026 Fire & Ice Festival’s VFW Chicken Dinner fundraiser will be held as scheduled Saturday, Jan. 31. Presented by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, the chicken dinner will serve as a benefit for Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234 and is sponsored by Mountaire Farms of Delmarva. The chamber is asking the community to help sell out tickets to support the VFW and the community in need.

Ahead of this weekend’s weather forecast, guests now have the option to purchase a Pay-it-Forward meal, which will be delivered to a local homeless shelter on Saturday evening, no pickup required. Guests may also still preorder regular meals for themselves, family, friends or neighbors, and pickup will be required between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., Jan. 31, at VFW Post 7234, 29265 Marshy Hope Way, Ocean View. Guests should pull around to the back entrance to pick up meals.

Both Pay-it-Forward and regular meals are $12 and include a quarter-chicken made with the famous VFW Chicken Shack sauce, coleslaw, potato salad, chips and a soft drink or bottle of water. Meals can be preordered or purchased for donation at fireandicede.com, in person at the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, 36913 Coastal Hwy., Fenwick Island, or by calling 302-539-2100.
