Kelly Truitt, Bodie’s retiree
Kelly Truitt, 67, of Seaford, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, in her hometown.
Born April 4, 1958, in Seaford, Kelly spent her life rooted in the community she loved. Her deep ties to the area were reflected in both her personal and professional life.
Kelly dedicated 44 years of her career to Bodie’s Dairy Markets, where she found great joy and fulfillment. Her passion for her work was evident to all who knew her. Over the years, she rose through the ranks to become a supervisor, managing six stores with dedication and care. Her leadership and commitment left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William "Wheat" Truitt; and her beloved daughter, Aimee Nailor. Kelly is also survived by her foster daughters, Dr. Ashley Adams and Carla Adams DeVries, whom she loved very much and with her whole heart; her niece, Chevylyn Evans; nephew, Rocky Evans III; as well as a host of other friends and family.
Kelly was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Brian Nailor; her mother, Violet "Faye" Sheridan; and her grandmother, Ruth Sheridan; and her brother, John Kenny.
Outside of work and family life, Kelly found happiness in simple pleasures. She loved playing word games on her iPad, a pastime she often credited with keeping her mind sharp. Shopping was another favorite activity.
Kelly was a wonderful person whose warmth and light touched everyone around her. She loved her family and friends deeply and wholeheartedly.
A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, Feb. 7, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown. A time of visitation will be held prior from 11 a.m. to noon.
