Frederick Stewart Roland, retired Army colonel
Frederick Stewart Roland, 87, of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford.
He served his country for many years and retired as a lieutenant colonel with the U.S. Army. His career post-military was equally illustrious; he was a respected structural engineer and an author of a well-regarded textbook on steel design, shaping the minds and careers of future engineers.
He leaves behind his children, Douglas Roland (wife Sumi) and Thomas Roland (wife Angela); siblings, John and Judy (husband Ed); granddaughter, Amber (husband Mike); niece and nephew, Suzy and David, and their families; and stepchildren, Nancy and Corey. He was predeceased by his beloved longtime partner, Judy.
Services to honor his life and legacy will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital in his memory, continuing his legacy of support and care for the community.
