A Rehoboth Beach man faces charges March 9 after police say he broke into an ocean-block home and ate a meal there.

Police responded at 3:38 p.m. to the ocean block of Pennsylvania Avenue after a homeowner called to let them know his security system had notified him that someone was in his house when it should be unoccupied. Upon arrival, police said, officers looked inside the residence and saw Joseph Lilly, 41, seated at a table. Police said Lilly had broken a window to enter the home and had eaten some of the food from the residence.

Officers took Lilly into custody without incident and charged him with third-degree burglary, theft under $1,500, and criminal mischief under $1,000. Police said Lilly was given a $4,000 unsecured bond.
