Meals on Wheels introduces new executive director to begin in June
Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth announced the appointment of Aileen Mateo as its next executive director, with the transition set to take effect in June.
Mateo has served in key leadership roles within the organization, most recently as co-director, where she has been instrumental in supporting daily operations, strengthening volunteer engagement and advancing the organization’s mission of serving homebound neighbors throughout the Lewes and Rehoboth communities.
“We are very excited to have Aileen at the helm moving forward,” said Clay Serman, board president. “Anyone who has worked with her knows that her heart and energy are truly contagious. She has demonstrated a deep commitment to our mission, our volunteers and the clients we serve. We are confident that under her leadership, Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth will continue to grow its impact across our community.”
“Being able to work with this vital and often vulnerable segment of the Lewes-Rehoboth community is both an honor and a privilege,” said Mateo. “Our mission is about more than delivering meals – it’s about ensuring our neighbors feel seen, supported and connected. I am deeply committed to continuing and expanding this important work alongside our dedicated volunteers and community partners.”
The organization extends its sincere appreciation to Interim Executive Director Chris Strong for his leadership during this period of transition.
Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth remains committed to delivering nutritious meals, friendly visits and essential support services that enable local seniors and individuals in need to maintain independence and dignity in their own homes.
