Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that started at Red Mill Inn in Lewes March 30. No one was injured, but the fire caused $30,000 in damages.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating a structure fire that took place at Red Mill Inn on Route 1 in Lewes.
According to the fire marshal’s origin and cause investigation, it was determined that the fire was accidentally caused by the spontaneous combustion of oil-saturated clothing in a hamper on the exterior patio of one of the units. The structure was occupied by a woman and child, who were able to escape without injury by getting out through a ground-floor window.
Fire damage was estimated at $30,000.
