Georgetown Student Art Show winners announced

April 29, 2026

The artistic talents of students at Georgetown elementary and middle schools were recognized during an award ceremony held March 25, at Georgetown Public Library.

The event, sponsored by Georgetown Arts & Flowers Inc., was attended by about 100 guests including parents, students, Georgetown Arts & Flowers members, library officials, school art teachers and community members.

Jeanne Locklair, Georgetown Arts & Flowers vice president of art, presented awards for first, second and third place in three grade-level categories. Eight honorable mention awards were also presented.

Locklair said, ”The annual art show supports art education, which is so important in so many ways. In addition to academics, art is a powerful tool for self-expression. It is how we artists tell our stories without words.”

She noted that all 72 pictures entered in the contest were extremely well done, and Georgetown is fortunate to have such talented art teachers as Michelle Fox, Jessica Vandrunnen, Kimberly Raschdorf and Siobhan Duggan.

The winners are as follows: first place K-2 Ava McCray, 3-5 Linsy Turner, 6-8 Emerson Hyer; second place K-2 Roman Roos, 3-5 Emily Sebastian Martinez, 6-8 Rajezir Rhone; and third place K-2 Aldo Samayo, 3-5 Diego Zuriga, 6-8 Quenebi Crisostomo.
