The Villages of Five Points kicks off seventh summer of free movies and entertainment

In its seventh year, the annual Summer on the Green movie and concert series, hosted at The Villages of Five Points Town Center in Lewes, kicks off this week with a Thursday, July 5 screening of "Dolphin Tale" and music by Love Seed Mama Jump Friday, July 6.

Family-friendly movies are projected on a big screen on the lawn at the Community Center every Thursday through Aug. 9 with a rain date of Aug. 16. Movies begin at sunset, and free popcorn is provided. This summer’s lineup includes blockbusters like "The Help," "The Muppets" and "Cars 2."

The concert featuring Love Seed Mama Jump is one of the most popular events of the series. Concerts take place at the gazebo or on the lawn at the town center; the schedule includes performances by The Funsters, Giant Steps and 33 1/3.

“These events just get better and better. We are thrilled to be in our seventh summer of offering family fun at no cost,” said Jamin Hudson, managing partner of The Villages of Five Points. “The Town Center is where visitors and residents can enjoy the modern side of Lewes with our restaurants, free entertainment, convenient parking and easy access.”

New this year, The Villages of Five Points is also hosting a Sunday farmers market, Market on the Green, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each week through the end of September. The market is growing weekly and includes local and organic produce and handcrafted products  Proceeds from the Market on the Green will benefit the American Cancer Society.

The Villages of Five Points is a mixed-use community with condominiums, townhouses and single-family homes in Lewes at the intersection of Route 1 and Savannah Road. The town center features a variety of services, shops and restaurants including Arena’s Cafe, Edible Arrangements, Fish On, Touch of Italy Italian Bakery, The Greene Turtle, The MedSpa, Coastal Dance Academy, The Lullabye House Learning Center and Sound Advice.

The Villages of Five Points and Make My Day Event Planning, the event sponsor and coordinator, welcome area residents and visitors for Summer on the Green 2012.
