Rehoboth Beach officials approved a permit of compliance and a supplemental permit of compliance for JAM Bistro’s new Rehoboth Avenue home during a meeting April 17.

Restaurateurs Jeff McCracken and Mark Hunker opened JAM Bistro in Celebration Mall on Baltimore Avenue in 2010. The following year, they moved the restaurant across the street next to Eden, another restaurant they own. In 2023, JAM Bistro moved to the corner of Second Street and Wilmington Avenue for a short stint because the Baltimore Avenue structure was set to be demolished to make way for a new hotel.

Under their business name JAM Holdings, McCracken and Hunter purchased the Rehoboth Avenue market in 2022 and ran it as one until October, when they announced the space would be the new home of JAM Bistro.

During the recent meeting, McCracken said there will be new booth seating in the area of the market and a bar where the deli used to be, while the outside will remain the same. If everything aligns, the restaurant will be open by Friday, May 15, he said.

According to the building inspector’s report associated with the application, there will be 41 dining seats, eight bar seats and 60 patio seats. The application says the restaurant will be open 4 to 11 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
