Lunch group event to benefit Harry K Foundation May 6

Members gather to support Laurel library
April 29, 2026

Lunch With a Purpose Coastal Delaware members gathered April 1 to support the Laurel Public Library.

Gail Bruce, Laurel library director, addressed the 196 guests in attendance and outlined the many programs the library offers. There are many low-income families and individuals in the Laurel area. In addition to typical services, the library has an extensive community outreach providing after-school programs, GED and ESL instruction, a teen health fair, a community food stand, personal hygiene station for teens, cancer bags, and a food pantry for local families and individuals in need. It also provides notary and passport services.

The event raised $12,237 in cash and in-kind donations, along with 981 pounds of nonperishable items collected for the the library’s food pantry.

The Harry K Foundation will be the beneficiary of the season’s final Lunch With a Purpose event to be held Wednesday, May 6, at Baywood Greens near Millsboro.
