William ‘Bill’ Swartz, loved Fords
William “Bill” Franklin Swartz, 76, of Georgetown passed away Saturday July 14, 2012, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Mr. Swartz was born the son of the late Emmon and Viola (Halmon) Swartz. Mr. Swartz was self-employed. Over the years he had owned two full-service gas stations. Later he owned a business specializing in transmissions and custom pipe bending. He was a bus driver and his last business venture was Swartz Trucking. Bill had extensive knowledge of all things Ford. He was the proud owner of a 1969 Ford Boss Mustang for more than 40 years, with 775 original miles on it. He was fun to be around and could always keep your attention when telling a story, and he loved to tell a good joke. Mr. Swartz loved animals and would be the first to rescue one.
Mr. Swartz is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Helen (Liggett) Swartz, a son Donald Murtagh of Laurel, 4 grandchildren Christine, Donna, Jenna, Tony and 8 great-grandchildren, Desirae, Sierra, TJ, Jeremiah, Makensey, Robert, Madisyn, and Adam. Mr. Swartz is also survived by his puppy dog Brandy, and cats Tina, Bo, Peanut, Mickey, Jelly and Lulu. Any time you would visit Mr. Swartz you could find one or more on his lap. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and anyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday July 17, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St. Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Millsboro.
