Stuart Kingston opens diamonds gallery

Orly Diamonds now available with diamond giveaway contest at University of Delaware
September 12, 2012

It's hard to believe the new Orly Diamonds boutique at Stuart Kingston Gallery would give away a diamond, but sometimes fact is stranger than fiction.

Orly Katz, proprietor of both the Wilmington flagship store in Independence Mall and the newest Orly Diamonds boutique at Stuart Kingston, wants Delaware to get engaged.

Katz wants to give away a free diamond engagement ring worth up to $5,000, and she’s offering couples a chance to compete for it.

The catch: The winning couple has to agree to get engaged at the University of Delaware's homecoming football game versus Rhode Island on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Jeweler Mauria Stein said the diamond promotion was a natural fit for the new Rehoboth store.

“The slogan is “Where Delaware gets engaged,’ ” Stein said.

Orly Diamonds representative Mike Xarhoulakos said couples who wish to compete for the diamond should first register at www.orlydiamonds.com where they will find challenges that will qualify them for a chance to win the diamond ring of their choice.

Xarhoulakos said couples work together to creatively complete their challenges and then share the link to their challenges through social media and email to gather the most votes for their solution.

By Oct. 20, the field of couples will be narrowed down to three for the game. Winners will be announced during the University of Delaware’s homecoming game, and that’s when things get real.

“It will be decided then and there, on the field,” he said. “Boom! You have to propose.”

Xarhoulakos directed interested couples to visit YouTube to see the Orly Diamonds football proposal and find out more information about the competition.

Otherwise, Katz said, she saw this promotion as an opportunity to extend her brand and bridal diamond expertise across the state now as the new location opens in Rehoboth Beach.

With her collection of conflict-free diamonds available from one-fourth carat to 10 or 20 carats, the jeweler said she works to accommodate all her clients’ individual tastes and price ranges.

“We start at $995, so we can pretty much cater to anyone,” Katz said. “Everyone can have the ring of their dreams. We custom create every ring, starting with the center stone.”
