Cape Henlopen School Board Member Sandi Minard Endorses Glen Urquhart for Senate
Today, Sandi Minard, an elected member of the Cape Henlopen School Board, announced her endorsement of Glen Urquhart for the newly created 6th State Senate District seat. The 6th District will serve the Milton, Harbeson, Lewes, Rehoboth and Dewey Beach area.
“Glen understands our area; he has lived and worked here. He knows that it is our responsibility to take care of one another, not the government’s. Glen will work hard to bring responsible government back to Delaware,” says Minard. “We need someone strong enough, experienced enough, who has the time to actually represent the people in the 6th Senate District. For me the choice is clear. On September 11, I will be voting for Glen Urquhart in the Republican Primary.”
Urquhart welcomed Minard’s endorsement by saying, “Sandi is a great Sussex Countian who understands how hard it can be to get the job done. Sandi has been a wonderful asset to the Cape school board because she is a caring mother and citizen.”
As the Republican nominee for the United States House of Representatives in 2010, Glen won over 70% of the election districts making up the new 6th State Senate District. He has served as Chairman of the Sussex County Republican Committee as well as on the Delaware State Police Advisory Council for Troop 7. Presidents Reagan and Bush appointed him to chair a Presidential Commission.
Born in Pittsburgh in 1948, the great grandson of an indentured servant, Urquhart was the first in his family to graduate from college in 1971 from the University of Virginia. Shortly after graduating, he founded Urquhart & Company. As an entrepreneur, Glen has started and been successful in numerous business ventures.
Now retired from decades of building businesses and creating jobs, Glen is running for the 6th State Senate District seat to help restore economic growth. “Being an advocate for my neighbors will be my full-time job. I will have no other competing interests. My constituents will be my only boss. My commitment will be to create jobs in Sussex County, reduce energy costs for employers and families, curb excessive government that impedes job creation, improve education, and enhance public safety,” says Urquhart. “Having walked in their shoes, I will be the ally employers need to start hiring again.”
