Home-performance introductory rebates announced for Delaware
The Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility’s Energize Delaware is offering higher introductory rebates for its Home Performance with Energy Star program, which is a whole-home approach to energy efficiency that can save up to 45 percent on energy costs.
Program benefits |
Benefits from getting a comprehensive energy audit and implementing recommendations can include the following:
• Up to 45 percent savings on your energy bills • A more comfortable and healthy home with fewer problems such as mold and ice dams • Expert technical assistance from certified and trained contractors • Peace of mind – the Sustainable Energy Utility works with contractors to ensure the improvements deliver real energy savings • Satisfaction in helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions |
The introductory rebates are available until Dec. 31, and they range from $300 to $8,250. The higher the projected energy savings for each energy-saving solution implemented, the higher the rebate a customer can receive.
“The higher rebate levels at the start of the program will reward early adopters and create a series of examples of how the program works,” said Sustainable Energy Utility (SEU) contract administrator Ralph Nigro. “We’ve already seen a buzz among neighbors who want to reduce their energy bills this fall and winter.”
Under the program, the SEU Energize Delaware Building Performance Institute-certified home-energy auditors use diagnostic tools to pinpoint leaks and other sources of energy waste that are unique to each home. Based on the audit, homeowners can install efficiency improvements that can include air sealing, insulation, heating-ventilation and air-conditioning replacements, windows, doors and other efficiency upgrades. Delawareans can choose from a growing list of qualified contractors that can help them make upgrades and address leaks and other energy wasters.
Nearly 300 Delawareans are taking advantage of the home heating and cooling system rebates, which offer cash back for replacing and upgrading an existing heating and cooling system. Rather than focus on a single project like replacing equipment, the Home Performance with Energy Star program is more comprehensive, combining the bigger savings that occur through multiple, coordinated improvements throughout a house.
