St. Edmond Catholic Church completes renovations
The Rev. Raymond Forester, pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach, has announced the completion of major renovations in the parish Religious Education Center and to the church exterior.
The renovations at the Religious Education Center included installation of new lighting fixtures, ceiling fans and tiles, electrical and communications wiring, and folding partitions; addition of teacher’s lounge and new restrooms; upgraded fire and smoke detection system and improved security features; new furniture and carpeting; and installation of new audiovisual teaching equipment in all classrooms.
Also completed was the installation of seven new church exterior doors, which provide improved, energy efficient insulation and door sealing systems. The doors feature Gothic-style glass inserts with an etched cross, similar to the historic stained glass windows in the church.
The completed renovations at the landmark church by the sea, built in 1939, advance the parish mission and create an enhanced spiritual and teaching environment for catechetical students, teachers and parishioners. An open house was held Oct. 7 in the Religious Education Center for parishioners to visit the center and learn details about the renovations. Forester also offered special blessings for the renovations.
