Local churches schedule Christmas services

Blue Christmas Service Dec. 21 at  All Saints' Church

A Blue Christmas Service will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21, at All Saints’ Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach. This ecumenical service of prayer and music is designed to bring comfort and hope to those who are coping with loss and struggle to find the joy in Advent and Christmas. A light supper follows the service.

Groome UMC posts Christmas worship services Dec. 23 and 24

At Groome United Methodist Church in Lewes Sunday, Dec. 23, both worship services, 9 and 10:30 a.m., will be services of Scripture lessons and carols. Refreshments will be offered in the fellowship hall between the two services.

On Christmas Eve, Groome will hold a candlelight service at 5 p.m. This is a family service, and Communion will be served.

The community is invited to all of the Christmas programs and services. Groome is at the corner of Savannah Road and Dewey Avenue in Lewes.

Westminster Presbyterian to present Christmas Cantata Dec. 23

The choir of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 301 King Charles Ave. in Rehoboth Beach, will present the Christmas Cantata "Lead Me Back to Bethlehem" by young American composer Pepper Choplin at the 10 a.m. service, Sunday, Dec. 23. Narration will be by veteran actor Gary Ramage with accompaniment by organist Sally Waugaman. This new work uses familiar folk tunes such as "Down to the River to Pray," "Scarborough Fair," and "Aura Lee," the classic "Ave Maria," as well as newly composed tunes to help the audience rediscover the joy, peace and love of Christmas. George F. Johnson is music director, and the pastor is the Rev. Dr. Frank Deming Jr. All are invited and welcome.

White's Chapel to hold Christmas Candlelight Service Dec. 23

White's Chapel UM Church will host a community-wide Christmas Candlelight Service at 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 23.  Everyone is welcome; a time of fellowship with refreshments will be held in the basement after the service.

White's Chapel is on the northbound side of Coastal Highway,  three miles north of Red Mill Pond and three miles south of Route 16. For more information call 302-645-8098 or 302-381-3077.

Conley's UMC to hold Christmas Eve candlelight services

Conley's United Methodist Church will hold four candlelight worship services on Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24. The services will be at 4:30, 6:30 and 11 p.m. at the new church, 33106 Jolyns Way off Camp Arrowhead Road, and at 8:30 p.m. at the old chapel, 22150 Robinsonville Road, one-half mile from the Angola traffic light on Route 24.

Goshen UMC schedules services for Christmas Eve

Goshen United Methodist Church at 103 Mulberry St, Milton, will hold two candlelight services for Christmas Eve, at 7 and 11 p.m. For more information, call 302-684-3328.

St. James Anglican posts Christmas services schedule

The Anglican Parish of Saint James is holding traditional candlelight services at 7:30 p.m., Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24, and 10 a.m., Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25. Lutheran Church of Our Savior Christmas Eve and Christmas schedule

The Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 20276 Bay Vista Road, will hold a Christmas Eve family service with Communion at 4 p.m., Monday, Dec. 24. Candlelight services at 7 and 10 p.m. will also be held Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25, will be celebrated at a 10 a.m. service with Communion.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church announces Dec. 24 and 25 services

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes will offer three services on Christmas Eve: 4 p.m. family service with pageant, 8 p.m. service with handbells and 11 p.m. service with choir. Christmas Day service will be at 9 a.m. To learn more about the historic church, visit www.stpeterslewes.org.

St. Jude the Apostle announces Christmas week schedule

Masses celebrating the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord will be held in St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church at 4, 6 and 10 p.m., Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24. The 4 p.m. Mass will be the Family Liturgy.  Masses will be held at 8:30 and 10 a.m., Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25.

Vigil Masses celebrating the Solemnity of Mary Mother of God are scheduled at 4 and 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 31, for New Year's Eve.  On New Year’s Day, Tuesday, Jan. 1, Masses celebrating the Solemnity of Mary Mother of God are scheduled for 8:30 and 10 a.m.

Confessions will also be heard from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22 and Dec. 29.

St. Jude the Apostle is on northbound Route 1 just north of Five Points near Lewes.
