LaRouche supporters seek Obama’s impeachment

Petition campaign comes to Rehoboth Beach
December 3, 2012

American voters just re-elected President Barack Obama, but supporters of political activist and former presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche are on a campaign to get him out.

Tony Esposito and Joe Billington are two supporters with LaRouche’s LaRouche PAC who made their way to Rehoboth Beach to call for Obama’s impeachment. Brandishing literature and pictures of the president with a Photoshopped Hitler mustache, the two camped out in front of the Rehoboth Beach post office trying to gather signatures on a petition to impeach Obama.

“We’re leading the fight nationally for Obama’s impeachment and restoration of the Glass-Steagall Act,” Esposito said.

Glass-Steagall was the 1933 law that separated commercial and investment banking but was repealed in 1999. Esposito said bringing the law back would clean up the country’s financial situation and encourage infrastructure investment in America.

As Esposito talked, a man walking out of the post office pointed to LaRouche’s picture, and said, “That guy’s a whack job, right there,” as he went to his car.

“Obama is going to destroy the country,” Esposito said. “He’s going to get us into World War III. We have to get him impeached."

When asked how Obama could be impeached and removed from office even though the Democratic Party holds a majority in the Senate – which would have to convict to remove the president from office – Esposito said once the truth comes out about things like Benghazi, Obama won’t be so popular. The impeachment process will prevent Obama from launching a war in the Middle East, he said.

“That’s our immediate concern,” Esposito said.

Billington and Esposito are both from Delaware County, Pa., near Philadelphia, where LaRouche PAC has an office. They travel from town to town on no set schedule. Billington said post offices are usually a good place to meet people. LaRouche himself is 90 years old, but Esposito said he’s stronger than ever.

Esposito said he has been supporting the LaRouche movement for 37 years. He said he was drawn to LaRouche after LaRouche warned about the economic crisis.

“It’s a great moment of crisis. We’ve got to get the truth out to the American people,” Esposito said.
