Phillip 'Pee Wee' Townsend, retired truck driver

Phillip E. “Pee Wee” Townsend, 71, of Millville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at his home.

 

Mr. Townsend was born April 10, 1941, in Frankford, son of Elisha William and Helen Jane (Morgan) Townsend. “Pee Wee” was a truck driver for Shelby Trucking in Selbyville, with over 40 years of service before his illness. He loved working in his yard, driving the tractor and trailer and camping with his family.

 

Pee Wee was also a social member of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Tim Timmons. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Carolyn Hickman Townsend; his mother, Helen Jane Townsend Nichols; a son, William E. (Maria) Townsend; two daughters, Donna Rae (Archie) Frietz and Holly Rae Townsend; a sister, Joyce Townsend (Tommy) Smullen and their two sons, Greg (Shirley) Lynch, and Tommy Smullen Jr; seven stepchildren, Mark (Joann) Hammond, Frank (Bonnie) Timmons, Terry (Sheila) Timmons, Sue Timmons, Bill (Tina) Timmons, Brian (Kim) Atkins and Crystal (Eric) Trout; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his four legged baby, Mindy; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

 

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2 at the funeral home, where friends and family may call after 2 p.m. Interment will follow at St. George’s Cemetery in Clarksville.
