Milford Drama to perform 'Seussical' Feb. 28 through March 2
“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!” - Dr. Seuss
Colorful costumes, lively music and beloved characters will fill the auditorium at Milford High School at the end of this month, as Milford Drama presents the musical "Seussical."
"Seussical" is a combination of many Dr. Seuss stories such as "Horton Hears a Who," "The Cat in the Hat," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories," and "Green Eggs and Ham." As Dr. Seuss himself would say, “From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere!”
Director Carissa Meiklejohn says, “This show is quite different from anything we’ve ever done before. It is more of an operetta, as most of the show is sung, and the small sections of dialogue are underscored with music.”
The show is also different from many other musical productions, as it is truly an ensemble cast. The 20 students from Milford High School and the Milford Central Academy play many different characters from these classic stories. Participating seniors include Douglas Bedo, Kate Forehand, Jacob Leonard, Kimberly McKinney, Megan Rossetti and Katrina Russ. There will also be a very special cameo appearance by an alumnus of the Milford Drama program.
This exciting show will entertain audience members of all ages, from the very young to the very young at heart. According to Meiklejohn, “Practically every song is a different style of music. It is so much fun and full of energy.”
Performances will be held in the Milford High School auditorium at 7 p.m., Thursday to Saturday, Feb. 28 to March 2. There will also be an afternoon matinee at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 2. Tickets will be available at the door. Price for adults is $8, and students K-12 pay $6. A $1 discount will be given to those who bring a ticket stub from the Lions Club spaghetti dinner being held from 4-7 p.m., Saturday, March 2 in the MHS cafeteria.
