“Meep! Meep!”

Cape senior infielder/outfielder Connie Floyd signed on the dotted line Wednesday, March 25, and will join coach Robert Perry and the Lady Roadrunners softball team in the fall.

Perry has been at the helm of the Georgetown program since the 1994 season and has built his successful program on the talents of downstate Delaware players.

Del Tech plays a 35-game schedule in the spring and just returned from Myrtle Beach in South Carolina where the team went 7-3 on a southern swing. The Roadrunners play in NJCAA Region 19 Division 2 and last year finished eighth in the nation.

“I want to be an elementary school teacher,” said Floyd of her goals.

Her mother, also named Connie Floyd, said she wanted to thank all the Cape teachers and coaches who have helped her daughter be successful.

Albert Davis, Connie’s father, is a former Cape football player having played line for the Vikings in the mid-1970s.

Administrator Brian Curtis was asked by the family to join the signing party and said he hopes to be around when Connie begins her career as a Cape teacher.

Cape players Chloe Vescovi and Margaret Landon are on the 2009 Lady Roadrunners roster.
