Sussex Chapter of NARFE donates to local affiliates of Alzheimer's Association

August 19, 2013

Officials of Coastal Sussex Chapter 1690 of National Active and Retired Federal Employees recently presented a check for Alzheimer’s research in the amount of $10,934 to Jamie Magee, Sussex County coordinator of the Alzheimer’s Association, at her Georgetown office. Katie Macklin, executive director for Delaware of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, joined in receiving the NARFE donation.

The money was raised by the NARFE chapter at its annual Charity Golf Tournament held May 17 at Salt Pond Golf Course in Bethany Beach, through a two-month lottery calendar charity fundraiser, and at a Dine & Donate event held at Big Fish Grill in Rehoboth Beach.

Magee said, “We are grateful for the many contributions the local NARFE group has provided the Alzheimer’s Association over the last few years for our research efforts, and we are delighted to once again be the recipient of the proceeds from this year’s charity golf tournament and their other events.”

Trombello said, “I would like to thank the many local individuals and businesses who contributed to the NARFE effort through playing in our golf tournament, sponsoring tee boxes, donating golf foursomes and gift certificates for our post-tournament charity auction, buying the lottery calendars and participating in the Dine & Donate event. NARFE is proud to be a leader in raising funds through our community for the important cause of Alzheimer’s research.”
