Frigid temperatures continue in Cape Region

February 1, 2026

Although the Cape Region didn’t get the winter storm that was forecast for the weekend, the temperatures continue to plunge the area into a deep freeze.

The bays, ponds, canals and anything else liquid is frozen. The icy Delaware Bay is attracting people to the beach, but without beach chairs and sunscreen.

The Cape May-Lewes Ferry canceled several trips across the bay Feb. 1, due to the harsh conditions.

There is relief in sight, however, as temperatures are expected rise to the mid to high 30s early next week.
