The Cape field hockey team won 5-0 Sept. 24 at Lake Forest behind the second consecutive hat trick from lacrosse goalie Sam Broadhurst. Allie Yeager and Kat Judge also scored, both DI-committed lacrosse players heading to Wolford College after graduation.
Cape dealt with Dover Sept. 26 before beginning “hell week” with a 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28 home contest at Champions Stadium versus the No. 1 team in Maryland, Severna Park, then a date down to Delmar Tuesday, Oct. 1, followed by a 7 p.m, Saturday, Oct. 3 home game versus Sussex Tech.
The week beginning Sept. 30 is also Spirit Week at Cape, leading up to the Friday night homecoming game versus the Bullis School of Maryland.
And prior to the Oct. 3 home game versus rival Sussex Tech, Cape will induct coaches Janet Nowakowski, Carolyn Ivins and Ruth Skoglund into the Coaches Ring of Honor. Those three coaches will also be honored at Legends Stadium Friday, Oct. 4, prior to the football game.
Cape held an advantage in shots against Lake Forest 25-5. On the horizon are distractions and pressures for the Vikings' hockey team, which hasn’t lost a regular-season game to an in-state opponent in 65 games.
