Ralph E. Jones, Army veteran
Ralph E. Jones, 70, of Frankford, formerly of Burke, Va., passed away suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Jones was born in Washington, D.C., May 24, 1943, son of James and Gertrude (Sutherland) Jones. He was a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the United States Air Force.
Ralph retired as an information officer with the Association of the U.S. Army after 30 years of service. He loved traveling, photography, and doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles. His family will always remember him as a doting grandfather and a loving husband and father.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Vera R. (Godwin) Jones; his mother, Gertrude Jones; two children, Jeffrey (Veronica) Jones and Teresa (Anthony) Pellicano; a brother, James W. Jones Jr.; three sisters, Barbara Atkinson, Bertha Pappas and Brenda Schlegel; and three grandchildren, Alyssa and Alexander Jones, and Isabella Pellicano.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family may call after 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
