Disappointed in Senate candidate aired

May 19, 2014

I was very disappointed Wednesday, May 7, when the candidate for Senate District 6, Claire Snyder-Hall didn’t attend her own event at Plantations East, Lewes.

Eye-catching flyers were posted in the community information boxes asking residents to come out and meet Claire and that she was eager to answer our questions regarding her qualifications to represent us. I had invited friends to attend and when I showed up and no one was there.

The flyer stated that there would be a barbecue from 5 until 7 p.m. at the community meeting area. Though it had rained earlier, by 4 p.m. the weather had cleared. However at 5, neither Claire Snyder-Hall nor anyone else from her campaign showed up for the event. There was no notification of any kind about a cancellation, not even a sign posted at the meeting place.

I don’t want to draw any conclusions, but one has to wonder what kind of representation we can expect of a candidate that doesn’t show up at her own event and doesn’t give notice to those who took their time to be present for her.

I hope Ms. Snyder-Hall is still running for office and would appreciate an opportunity to meet her. I feel it’s a good thing to see a woman running for office and would be happy to hear her qualifications and viewpoints.
