Sussex Tech senior receives ECW Scholarship

Sussex Tech senior Sarah Bell of Seaford is the recipient of a $750 scholarship awarded by the St. George’s Chapel Episcopal Church Women. The scholarship is a memorial to members of St. George’s ECW in Harbeson who are now deceased and who worked tirelessly to further the goals of the organization. The scholarship is dedicated to assist female high school students who are pursuing a college or technical degree.

Recipients must have maintained a C or above grade point average during their high school career. A committee reviewed each application from students at Sussex Technical High School and Cape Henlopen High School, a graduating senior from St. George’s Chapel congregation, and a previous recipient requesting a repeat award.

Bell has been studying the early care and education career-technical area at Sussex Tech. She plans to major in elementary education. She is shown, center, joined by Sussex Tech guidance counselor Gemez Tull, left, and Joyanne Murphy, chair of St. George's Chapel ECW Memorial Scholarship Fund.
