Unseasonably cool temperatures brought a crowd to the Fourth Annual Maritime Heritage Festival July 20 at Delaware Seashore State Park. The history of the lives of early life-saving guards were shown through crafts, games and demonstrations.
Storyteller and musician Matthew Dodd performed old sailing songs and stories while dressed in period garb.
The highlight of the day is always a Breeches Buoy Rescue Demonstration complete with live cannon-fire using a historic Lyle Gun.
Local museums, historical societies and maritime organizations displayed history and environmental awareness with family-friendly activities.
