Navigating Family Dynamics begins Oct. 3 at All Saints' Church
The Episcopal Parish of All Saints’ Church & St. George’s Chapel is offering a series of free adult education seminars in Rehoboth Beach titled Navigating Family Dynamics. Guided by Susan Luff, former research assistant of the late renowned psychologist Rabbi Ed Friedman, participants will explore topics that include The Hidden Chemistry of Relationships, Understanding and Utilizing Anxiety as a Source of Power, and The Emotional Process Surrounding Transitions and Loss.
The sessions meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Fridays, Oct. 3 and 10, and Dec. 5 and 12, at All Saints’ Church at 18 Olive Ave. in Rehoboth Beach. A light supper will be served.
Luff is a nurse psychotherapist, yoga teacher and leadership coach. She received a BS in nursing from the University of Delaware and an MS in mental health nursing from the University of Maryland. Luff attended the postgraduate program (1977) and biofeedback program (1985) at the Bowen Family Center in Washington, D.C.
Luff began learning about Bowen Family Systems thinking in 1971. Its simplicity and depth has continued to be intriguing in her professional work and in her own family. Her psychotherapy and coaching occurs in Bethesda and North Potomac, Md., and through phone consultation.
In 1985, she began individual coaching and group supervision with Friedman, a leader of family therapy. In 1987, she joined his faculty for his leadership program for clergy and professionals. In 2008, Luff began a Bowen/Friedman-based monthly phone consultation group with book studies and case presentations.
Her coaching includes self-regulatory practices for help with health and healing, surgery preparation, anxiety, pain, life and relationships. Her interests include kayaking, hiking with her dog, biking, writing, painting and singing.
