New Lewes yoga classes and prenatal series coming soon

January 6, 2015

Turning Point Yoga & Meditation is offering new classes in 2015. In addition to the existing Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. classes in Milton, four new yoga classes will start the week of Jan. 5 in Lewes, and a 12-week prenatal yoga course will start Wednesday, Jan. 14, in Milton.

Open yoga classes are starting the week of Jan. 5 at the new Delaware Arthritis building, 20268 Plantation Road in Lewes. Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 to 10:30 a.m. and open to everyone from beginners to experienced students. Gentle yoga will be offered on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. This class is for people recovering from illness or injury, and/or very limited in mobility. Private sessions and yoga therapy can also be scheduled. All classes in Lewes are $15.

The prenatal classes will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesdays at The Edge Academy, 622 Mulberry St. in Milton. This class focuses on releasing the muscles at the base of the spine and pelvis to provide a more comfortable pregnancy, an easier, faster delivery and a quicker recovery. Guided awareness and a breathing practice are part of every class to provide relaxation, healing and a connection to the body and baby. It's also a wonderful way to connect with other moms. Moms new to Svaroopa yoga must be at least 12 weeks pregnant before beginning the class. This class is also beneficial for couples trying to conceive. The cost is $220 for the 12 weeks. The classes can be prorated to accommodate due dates and late comers. Registration is required.

The classes are taught by Rajni (Chelsea) King, a certified Svaroopa yoga teacher since 2003 and registered with the Yoga Alliance. King has several advanced Svaroopa yoga certifications, including prenatal, gentle, deeper and meditation.
