Bayhealth expands Better Breathers Club to Milford Memorial
To celebrate pulmonary rehabilitation week March 8-14, Bayhealth announces the expansion of the Better Breathers Club to Bayhealth Milford Memorial. With meetings held at Bayhealth Kent General since 2013, patients and their family members in the Milford area can now benefit from attending a support group with other sufferers of chronic obstructive lung disease.
The meetings will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m., Thursday, April 16, Tuesday, July 16, and Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Bayhealth Milford Memorial Rehab conference room. Topics discussed at meetings will include COPD awareness, medication management, and physical activity and nutrition. The support group is free to the public; registration is not required.
Milford resident James “Jimmy” Jefferson attended the first meeting of the Better Breathers Club in January and now encourages others to attend future support group meetings. Jefferson, a Korean War veteran, suffers from COPD, asthma and acute bronchitis.
“I would recommend anyone that has COPD or asthma to, if they can, get into the Pulmonary Rehab Program and attend the Better Breathers Support Group meetings,” Jefferson said. “You’re going to learn something new every time you come.”
