The Eastern Sussex Ducks Unlimited held its Annual Sporting Clay Shoot at Owens Station near Greenwood May 3. This annual event is a fundraiser for Ducks Unlimited with funds going to conservation.
The shoot had 10 stations that gave the opportunity to shoot 50 clays by the 70 shooters at the event. Prizes were awarded for different classes. There were three shooters who broke all 50 clays and the winner was decided by a Long Bird Shootout. Mark Helmick was high overall with 50 targets shot. The results in the 1st Lewis Class was first place, Michael Luongo, 50 targets; second place, Mike Parkhurst, 50 targets; and third place, Gary Gile,s 49 targets.
Ties were determined by longest running streak of shooting out targets. In the 2nd Lewis Class winners were: first place, Bud Rummel, 42 targets; second place, Charles Harding, 42 targets; and third place, Ray Huber, 42 targets. The 3rd Lewis Class winners were: first place, William Edwards, 32 targets; second place, Edward Henry, 32 targets; and third place, Nate Graulich, 32 targets.
Dee Orr broke 48 targets and took home the ladies prize. Zachary Hultberg broke 43 targets and took home the Greenwing prize for 17 and under.
