Ted Baer, meat supervisor
Ted Baer, 94, of Lewes, formerly of Chester, Pa., passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes.
A veteran of World War II, he served in Africa, Sicily and Italy with the 835th Engineer Aviation Battalion. Due to an injury in Italy, he spent over one year in Army hospitals recuperating.
A meat cutter by trade, he retired as meat supervisor of the Shop “N” Bag Markets in Philadelphia, Pa.
Ted was a master mason of Doric Lodge 30 in Millville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Caroline; sisters, Jean, Anne, Elizabeth and Marea; brothers, Carl and Bill; and his beloved wife, Evelyn Baer. Ted is survived by his daughter, Barbara Stanley; his sisters, Madalene, Gerry and Bea; and his grandson, Robert J. DeFlaviis.
A funeral service will be held Monday, June 8, at 11 a.m., at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be held at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton.
