William 'Rex' Rexroth Jr., government retiree

July 10, 2015

William "Rex" Rexroth Jr., 74, of Millsboro, formerly of Severn, Md.,passed away Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015, with his family by his side.

William F. Rexroth Jr. was born July 28, 1939, in Baltimore, Md., the son of William and Beulah Rexroth. He was raised in Bowie, Md., and he graduated from Bladensburg High School. On July 7, 1960, Rex married Brigitte Dielas in Berlin, Germany during his military service in the Army. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage together. They made their home in Severn, where they raised three children.

Rex worked for the District of Columbia government as an engineer for the Washington, D.C. school system, Watergate and the Smithsonian. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Berlin US Military Veterans Association.

Rex loved being around friends and family. He always turned work into a fun event. Raking leaves turned into a backyard hot dog roast and he regaled the children with his stories. After working three jobs in a day he found time to play kick ball with his kids and their friends. Boating, hunting and family gatherings with yearly oyster roasts were just a few of his favorite pastimes.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Brigitte; three children, Jennifer Rexroth of Delaware, Jeannette Hyatt of Maryland and David Rexroth of Maryland; four grandchildren, Dustin, Derrick, Andrew and Kayla; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Chase; siblings, Lillian Boswell of Virginia, and Shirley Swartz of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation and a time to share memories will be held from 10 to11 a.m., Saturday, July 18, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment is private.
