A Day in the Garden open house set July 18 in Georgetown

Sussex Master Gardeners' event is free

Sussex County Master Gardeners are holding A Day in the Garden open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 18, at the Sussex County Extension office in Georgetown. Admission is free.

The Sussex County Extension office is at 16483 County Seat Highway, Route 9, west of Georgetown. Visitors should look for the blue and gold tent in the Sussex County Demonstration Garden immediately behind the office building. Children, grandchildren, family and friends are welcome. Highlights include door prizes, free pollinator seed packets while supplies last, a plant sale, a vertical garden display, UDairy Creamery ice cream available for sale from the Moo Mobile and an ask-an-expert sick plant clinic. Visitors may check out the bee hotels around the garden. Workshops are at the following times:

• 10:15 a.m. Make a Bee House, Hotel or Condo (while supplies last)

• 11 a.m. Cooking from the Garden Demonstration and Taste Test

• Noon. Learn How to Compost to Recycle and Improve Soil

• 1 p.m. What’s Eating My Garden? Join Our Insect Safari

• The award-winning “The Misadventures of Peter Rabbit in Farmer McGregor’s Garden” will be held for children at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
