Aimee Wiest to lead Exploring Expressions Aug. 20 at Summer Spirituality Series
St. Peter’s Summer Spirituality Series will present Dr. Aimee Wiest on Exploring Expressions at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, in St. Peter’s parish hall. Attendees will explore expressions from the past, present and future through an interactive session with Wiest. Explorations will be personal, general and philosophical. Each explorer will create a written record of his or her journey.
To be spiritually treasured, expression need not be universally significant, but rather germane to the individual. During this presentation, each individual’s standards of spiritual value will reign supreme, recognizing that what one expresses may not be what another treasures. No expression will be denied, but each may be interpreted individually or collectively.
Wiest will initiate each segment of the session by playing improvised piano music which reflects her treasured expressions. Certain philosophical connections will also be made. Audience members may share their own expressions with the group, but no one is required to do so. Spiritual relevance reflects the essence of each individual, so each spirit can feel free to explore and express.
Attendees should come prepared to experience the familiar in a different and meaningful manner. Those who find spontaneity a bit of a challenge may find meditating about personally meaningful expressions helpful prior to this program.
The Summer Spirituality Series continues at 7 p.m. every Thursday evening until Labor Day in the parish hall of St. Peter’s at 211 Mulberry St. in Lewes. All presentations are free and open to the public, although donations are gratefully accepted. Fellowship and ice cream cones will follow the presentations.
