Head Huggers and Fifer Orchards seek handmade hats for bottle beanies

To keep people in Delaware warm this winter
August 28, 2015

Delaware Head Huggers is partnering with Fifer Orchards to help spread some warmth to the people of Delaware this winter. The public's help is greatly needed and appreciated.

Delaware Head Huggers is collecting tiny hats that will be placed on jars and bottles at Fifer's Farm Store in Camden-Wyoming in the fall. Hats will adorn everything from olive oil bottles up to quart-size mason jars and all sizes in between. These hats will be sold for a dollar or two each, and 100 percent of that money will be donated to keep people in Delaware warm this winter.

Delaware Head Huggers needs lots of tiny hats including themed hats for fall and winter such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and more. There is a need for farm-themed hats like beehives, pumpkins, apples, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables. They need adorable hats of any theme or type. Sizes vary since there are many different items sold in the store; apple butter, local honey, jams, oils, pickles and so many other yummy things.

Hats can be knit, crocheted or sewn. All should be new and handmade. Hats will be collected, displayed and sold from September through December.

All hats can be sent to Delaware Head Huggers, 202 Acorn Forest Drive, Felton, DE 19943. For more details about this program and for drop-off sites throughout the state at participating public libraries, go to www.delawareheadhuggers.org or like Delaware Head Huggers on FaceBook.
