Mayor Becker recognizes Lewes in Bloom at city council meeting

At a Lewes City Council meeting Oct. 19, Mayor Ted Becker recognized Lewes in Bloom for its efforts to beautify Lewes parks and gardens, and the role it played in winning the America in Bloom competition, denoting Lewes as the most beautiful small town in America.

According to a press release from America in Bloom, top honors for the prestigious 2015 America in Bloom national awards program were announced at the annual awards event held in Holland, Mich., Sept. 26. Lewes received a top five-bloom rating out of a possible five blooms. Lewes in Bloom also won in its competition category and received a special mention for the community’s floral displays.

After the mayor’s recognition, Warren Golde, founder of Lewes in Bloom, described the America in Bloom symposium. The trophy and plaque were given to the City of Lewes.
