Joe Biden makes surprise visit to Rehoboth Beach

Much to the astonishment of the people who had gathered at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Nov. 22 to celebrate the launch of "Beach Days," Vice President Joe Biden showed up. More than 20 authors and well over 100 well-wishers had come to the Cat and Mouse Press book launch party for the latest book in the award-winning Rehoboth Beach Reads series.

They were already in high spirits, getting their books signed, eating cake and chatting with the authors when word spread that the vice president was there.

“The 'Beach Days' launch party was already an enormous success,” said Nancy Sakaduski, owner of Cat and Mouse Press, “but seeing the vice president was a huge additional thrill. I told him we were having a book launch and handed him a copy of the book. My husband snapped a picture while we chatted for a few minutes.” Sakaduski put the photo on the Rehoboth Beach Reads Facebook page, where it rapidly went viral, with authors sharing it on their own pages. “This is a launch party I won’t soon forget,” Sakaduski said.
