New Year's Eve was celebrated in Dewey Beach with its annual Ball Drop sponsored by the Dewey Business Partnership. The Ball Drop, in the shape of a skimboarder, was upgraded from previous years. The ball was dropped in the middle of New Orleans Street with the help of Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company Snorkel 82. Prior to the drop, top tunes from last year played, and party favors, hats and noise makers were handed out.
