Local Silpada Designs rep offers online jewelry fundraisers

January 5, 2016

Local Silpada Designs representative Barbara Curran has always had a passion for selling jewelry, but it wasn't until she started giving back to the community through her online fundraisers that she discovered her life's passion. For a nonprofit, school or individual in need, Curran always has something to give.

Curran started selling Silpada's handcrafted .925 sterling silver jewelry and fashion accessories to help pay for her own unexpected medical expenses. "Suddenly a light bulb went off, and I realized I could help others in need through online jewelry fundraisers," said Curran. She receives 30 percent commission on each sale and gives back two-thirds of it, as well as a high-ticket prize to each fundraiser. The remaining 10 percent is used for advertising and administrative expenses to run the business.

"Women love jewelry," says Curran, "and jewelry fundraisers are a fun, easy way for an organization to raise money quickly." A unique link is created for the fundraiser which is shared on social media by group members or individuals' family and friends. Customers order through a secure website and orders are shipped directly to the customer from Silpada's Corporate Office typically within three to four days after the fundraiser ends. The online event runs for five to seven days, and a check is sent to the charity, school, group or individual within seven days of the close of the fundraiser.

In the past year, Curran has donated over $1,000 in cash and prizes from her sample sale fundraisers to Clothing Our Kids, a Sussex County nonprofit organization that provides clothing to children in need. She has also organized fundraisers for The Jimmy V Foundation and The Pretty in Pink Foundation. A fundraiser is in the works for the Delaware SPCA in January.

Started in 1997, Silpada Designs' handcrafted .925 sterling silver jewelry and fashion accessories are sold through independent representatives. Every product is backed by a lifetime guarantee. For more information, go to http://mysilpada.com/barbara.curran.
