Enjoy Halloween Weekend 2020 With These Fun Events and Activities in Delaware’s Coastal Region

October 28, 2020

The final weekend of October is usually one of our favorites in the greater Rehoboth Beach area, with the annual Sea Witch Halloween & Fiddler’s Festival turning Delaware’s most popular resort town into an autumn party zone of sorts.

Sadly, this fun and festive annual event is one of the casualties of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic in Delaware. But we hope for a better 2021 and a much awaited return of the green-faced Sea Witch to coastal Delaware.

But while there won’t be a big parade and lots of fun costumes this year on Rehoboth Avenue, there are a number of great Halloween Weekend things to tell you about at and near the Delaware beaches.

We want to let you know, however, that we’re saving a few things for later use. While we’re touching on some of the more traditional Halloween type activities in today’s “Weekender Blog,” be sure to visit the Coastal Compass again tomorrow for some alternative options for celebrating the holiday over the next few days.

That being said, we kick off today’s blog with some fun activities in Rehoboth Beach. Let’s get started…

Trick or Treating in Rehoboth Beach (October 31). Normally incorporated into the annual Sea Witch festivities every October, this year’s trick or treating in Rehoboth Beach will have a bit of a different feel to it. But there’s still going to be plenty of candy to go around for all of the little ghosts and goblins out there!

Rehoboth Beach’s 2020 trick or treating will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., on Saturday, October 31, for children under 14 in the resort.

The city is asking participants to use flashlights, glow sticks or flashing pins whenever possible and to walk in groups, or with an adult, for added safety.

There will also be an extra police presence throughout Rehoboth on Halloween night, in the interest of community safety.

Oldies Dance at Rehoboth Beach Convention Center (October 30). Put on your dancing shoes this Friday night and head to the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center for a fun oldies dance.

Scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m., this fun-filled evening will benefit programs at both Rehoboth Beach Main Street and Rehoboth in Bloom.

D.J. Sky Brady will be belting out the tunes all night, with beer, wine, coffee, snacks and desserts all available for dancers.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door and can be purchased at www.downtownrb.com.

Halloween Kids Cabaret Quayside at Milton Theatre (October 29). Bring a couple of chairs and join the fun-loving folks at the Milton Theatre this Thursday, October 29, for a special kids themed Halloween event outside on the quay.

The event begins at 6 p.m., with each child 13 and under receiving a trick-or-treat bag full of candy.

Organizers ask that you get into the spirit by wearing a costume, which might also win you a special prize during the course of the evening.

Refreshments that will be provided include hot dogs, popcorn, fresh baked cookies and other treats, along with soft drinks and water, or beer and wine for the grownups.

In the event of rain, the event will be moved inside the theatre with mask usage and social distancing guidelines in place.
