Events This Weekend in Delaware and Maryland

August 24, 2022

The Summer of 2022 is sadly coming to a close, but not before two more weeks of fun in the sun at the beautiful Delaware and Maryland beaches.

And don't forget, once Labor Day Weekend has come and gone, the region's popular festival season kicks off. That means about 10 weeks of big, local events and happenings to keep us busy until just before Thanksgiving.

But that's still a couple of weeks away. For this final weekend of August, we have a number of great things to tell you about in Delaware and Maryland.

We kick things off with a popular annual event in the town of Milton. But that's only the beginning of what's in store over the next few days at and near the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

Keep reading below for much more. And please have a fantastic weekend whatever you decide to do.

Bargains on the Broadkill (August 27)

This locals favorite is returning in 2022 and will be held on Saturday, August 27, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The site is once again Milton Memorial Park, with the event including plenty of vendors, great food, live entertainment and much more.

The highlight of the annual event is the Great Duck Race, which will happen this year at 2 p.m., in the park. Purchase a rubber duck of your own and watch it race down the river in an attempt to win one of several prizes.

Also happening on Saturday in Milton is the 23rd Annual Broadkill River Canoe & Kayak Race, which is sponsored by Irish Eyes.

Freeman Stage Arts & Jazz Festival (August 26)

The Freeman Arts Pavilion is the place to be this Friday, August 26, for the 2022 edition of the site's Arts & Jazz Festival.

Scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m., jazz performers this year include Joe Baione, Energico and Jazzy Blu, so come out for some great music this Friday near Fenwick Island.

Some of the region's finest visual artists will also be on-site and showcasing their artwork during the event.

As always, this is a free event and is open to the public.

Star Wars Fest (August 27)

Hudson Fields in Milton will be transformed into a "Galaxy Far, Far Away" this Saturday, as the creators of Jaws Fest and Jurassic Fest return to the venue in 2022 for Star Wars Fest.

The American classic was released 45 years ago and will return to the big screen for one night only this Saturday at around 8 p.m.

Gates open at 5 p.m., so come early and enjoy live music by Fitzkee Brothers and Electric Smoke, as well as craft beer, artisanal cocktails, a host of food trucks, local vendors, Star Wars themed games and even a costume contest.

Revelation Brewery has even created a beer just for the event, so come and enjoy your "Jedi Juice IPA" before the start of the film.

This event is free for the entire family, but donations and certain proceeds will benefit Beebe Healthcare.
