Area Christmas Parades (December 2-6)

Several of the area's Christmas parades are scheduled over the next few days and offer plenty of choices for residents and visitors alike to jump head first into the 2021 holiday season.

From Lewes west to Seaford, south to Ocean City and several points in between, communities throughout the coastal region will be spreading Christmas cheer between Thursday, December 2, and Monday, December 6.

Scheduled Christmas parades over the next few days include:

  • Georgetown on Thursday, December 2
  • Selbyville on Friday, December 3
  • Lewes, Millsboro, Seaford and Ocean City on Saturday, December 4
  • Rehoboth Beach on Monday, December 6.

Caroling on The Circle (December 6)

This annual holiday favorite is scheduled this year for Monday, December 6, and will once again take place in front of the Sussex County Courthouse on The Circle in Georgetown.

Scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., holiday music and Christmas caroling will again rule the day for this rain or shine event.

Non-perishable food items will also be collected as part of this year's Sussex County Food Drive.

Bethany Beach Holiday Happenings and Tree Lighting (December 4)

The Town of Bethany Beach is hosting a special day for the public on Saturday, December 4, highlighted by the lighting of the resort's Christmas tree at 5 p.m.

The day includes events throughout town, starting with a special story time and book signing at the Nature Center, which is located at 807 Garfield Parkway. The mother-daughter team of Carol and Cori Burcham will be signing copies of their book "Goodness Gracious Gee I Forgot My Christmas Tree!"

Santa Claus and Sunshine the Clown will then be hosting a party at Town Hall beginning at 1 p.m. Trolley rides and plenty of downtown shopping and eating choices will also be featured in the resort's downtown area.

The tree lighting is followed by a special performance by the Southern Delaware School of the Arts choir.

Canned food items, as well as winter clothing, will also be collected throughout the day for donation to local charities.
