Namaste.
"This phrase is variously translated as 'The light in me greets the light in you' or "'The Divine in me recognizes the Divine in you.' This is the traditional, everyday greeting in India - with fingertips touching and hands held at the heart in Anjali Mudra. This expression is often used in yoga classes to begin or complete the practice, offering ones soul to the Divine."
-From the book, "Sacred Sanskrit Words" by Liza Lowitz and Reema Datta
My yoga class is completed with the phrase "...and we end our class with a greeting to each other, Namaste." Everyone is in a calm and peaceful state, after sharing a yoga class together, this brings the meaning and feeling of this beautiful greeting clearly into their hearts.
Namaste,
Terry
